A collage wall can be a great way to bring life and visual interest to any space. Designing a blank wall can seem daunting, but a DIY collage wall does not have to be overwhelming. Having a nice variety of art, a selection of picture frames, and a main wall is really a great start. I believe any where in your home can be a great place to showcase a gallery wall, but for me a living room, walkway, or around a signature piece of furniture are my favorite spots. Today’s post includes How To Create an EASY DIY Collage Wall.

1. Create a photo wall collage.

Gallery walls have become really popular and there are a lot of services that will help you to create a nice and uniform wall collage of pictures. You can simply order photo prints and get them all framed similarly to make a more aesthetically pleasing wall. While this option may seem boring for some, it does take a lot of the work out of making a nice and cohesive collage wall. You already have all the art and you don’t have to source for various items or sized artwork to fit a specific space on your wall. It is also just so nice to spotlight family or your favorite memories into a cohesive design. Photo-only collages are a really simple way to create a more decorative look for any large open wall and takes a lot of the initial work off of you. Here are some options for creating a wall photo collage that you will love. Various collage wall kits, photo tiles, or specific gallery wall services will help you with a more cohesive look and will make this a very easy diy project. Below are some wall collage kits and services that can make your gallery wall process seamless.

2. Create a gallery wall around an important focal point.

Having a large and central focal point can make the gallery wall process much simpler. Some great ideas for this could include a large canvas with an inspirational quote, a wall-mounted tv, or a large poster. With a focal point that is really large you will not have to worry as much about all the empty space around the focal point. This is where a smaller collage wall would be nice. A few items of different sizes around the focal point will add a nice touch to a large wall, especially if it is at eye level. A large center piece is a great way to start a gallery wall and it does not have to be a work of art. Creating a gallery wall around a piece of furniture or window are also different ways to build a wall that is really settled into the space.

3. Don’t force it.

It can take awhile for a gallery wall concept to come together. Sometimes I wait until I have all the pieces I want before I put it up and sometimes it is a bit of a work in progress. You call always add to gallery walls as well. Gallery walls are a lot of work and you want to have a pretty good idea of your vision, but also be open-minded to pivoting or problem solving. Having more art than you think you’ll need is a great problem that helps the process go more smoothly. Taking your time really helps the process go a lot smoother.

4. Make a one of a kind gallery wall with artwork of different sizes in frames of matching color.

This route will take a bit of extra work, but more eclectic collage walls are so popular and really nice to look at.  A big blank wall covered in miscellaneous art prints and items is such a fun way to showcase who you are or what you want the feel of the room to be. A showcase of personal style versus a collection of photos makes the wall much more interesting it just takes a little bit more love to execute. It is so worth it in my opinion. The first step would be deciding on a color scheme and selecting all of the perfect wall art for the space. The art you choose to display is really a matter of personal preference, but having a color or consistent theme in mind will help to bring everything together at the end. Remember 3D objects like ceramic pieces, shelves, sconces, etc make really great additions to a gallery wall. This process is pretty easy if you find frames of different sizes and styles, but paint them all to be the same color. There is variance with just the right amount of cohesion.

5. Solicite help.

Having someone else there for visual guidance has always been the game changer for my gallery walls. I have done a couple by myself, but they do take longer and it’s nice having someone else to help get the creative juices flowing, when decisions need to be made. It is also the best way to assess a straight line. Another person really makes the hanging process much quicker as well. There are services like Task Rabbit, but family and friends always make the best help in my experience of installing gallery walls.
